The Bite is Strong and the Mood is set for a Fantastic Weekend of Fun and Fishing at the Wigwam Resort on Lake of the Woods

Good morning to all!

Welcome to another edition of the Wigwam Fisherman’s Blog. Two days ago I had the opportunity to do a little fishing in the afternoon with my younger sister and her son (my nephew) and we had a blast. We went to one of the Wigwam Ice Houses just outside of Lighthouse Gap in 22 feet of water. The fish weren’t biting fast and furious, but the bite was steady…in a 3 hour period we had caught about 10 fish (half Walleye and half Sauger) and my nephew was in heaven. After we had a few in the bucket, all he wanted to do is look at the Walleyes in the bucket…too be 4 years old again…haha. He also didn’t want to stop playing with the bait…he wondered why we were keeping those fish (minnows) in a little pale…his questions put a smile on my face, only to be young again. I’m so happy to see his enthusiasm for fishing, he reminds me of me when I was a youngster. I hope that I will be able to take him fishing a bit more this summer and teach him a few tricks of the trade…I hope his enthusiasm continues.

This morning I just spoke with some gentlemen that are staying with us, but fishing on there own. As of 9 am this morning they had limited out on Walleye and Sauger just on the other side of Pine Island in Lighthouse Gap…right where I told them to go yesterday. The bite was fantastic this morning and they are all smiles from ear to ear…I love to see the fish are back hitting it hard again, just in time for the weekend…YES!!!!

Last week before I headed to the Duluth Sport Show, I had the distinguished opportunity of meeting a few long time patrons of the Wigwam Resort that hadn’t been to the Wigwam in about 5 years. Jeff Scott and his friends Ronnie and Ted were supposed to have another guest with them when they came up this year, but some terrible circumstances had changed the plans of the fourth would be guest, Rick. Rick's sister had just passed away from a 2 year battle with cancer. Even with the group willing to cancel the trip, Rick insisted they still go on without him. Jeff shared this story with me and having lost a close family member in the past few years to this terrible disease, it hit close to home and all of our thoughts and prayers are with Rick and his family at this time. I just wanted to share a little e-mail that I received from Jeff. Jeff wrote, “My buddies and I made plans to return to the Wigwam and were looking forward to having a great time catching some fish and doing something we all enjoy together. Less than a week before we were to come, one of our friends who planned to come lost his sister to cancer, a disease she had battled for almost 2 years. He encouraged us to keep our plans and go fishing. We did so, but our minds were with him, his family and his sister. As a tribute to our good friend and his sister, we toasted them both and wished them peace. Debbie is in a better place and she will not be forgotten. For our good friend Rick, we love you!!”

After reading Jeff’s e-mail I ran across a quote that Jody (my girlfriend) had given to me a few days ago and I thought it would be relevant to this situation, so I would like to use it as today’s “Quote of the Day”. “The tests of life are not meant to break you, but make you”, Norman Vincent Peale. I feel that I have been able to become a stronger person each and every time I’ve faced adversity in my life, whether it was through hockey or everyday life…I hope the same holds true for everyone else. My Father always told me that each and everything we face in life is an opportunity to learn and make us stronger, mentally and emotionally. Once again, I hope that holds true to all of you.

Just a little FYI, if you’re looking to book a trip on the weekend with us at the Wigwam Resort, you had better call and reserve your rooms/cabins today. There is very limited space available during the weekends till the end of March, book now or forever hold your peace. If you’re looking to come midweek (Sunday night – Thursday morning), please give us a call today, we are offering up to 15% off all fishing packages (only) during February and March (only applicable to new reservations). All the packages can be accessed on our website at http://www.wigwamresortlow.com/.

The lures that have still been working well are the “Gold Disco Ball aka “Strobe Jigs” (made by JB’s Tackle)”, “Stop Signs (Pink or White)”, “Macho Minnows (Pink, Green or White)” “Glow Pink Charmers (made by Tom’s Tackle locally in Baudette), which just happens to be my favorite lure to date” and “Chubby Darters/Rapala Rattling Jigs”. You want to be using anything that glows right now to get the best success possible…white and pink have been the best! All these items can be purchased at Log Cabin Bait and Tackle, which is about ¾ of a mile south of the Wigwam on 172. Remember that Vexilars are not required, but they help immensely when fishing off the bottom and marking suspended fish, which has been a common occurrence these days on Lake of the Woods. So, where I’m going with this one is, get a Vexilar today…you won’t be disappointed!

Announcements…The Wayne Renn Band (Nashville Line Entertainment) will be the live entertainment this week and weekend (February 25th, 26th & 27th). The Wayne Renn Band (Charlie Daniels style) is a 5 piece band with a fiddle, which brings them in from miles around…hope to see you all here. Also, for all of you that have the ability to come midweek don’t miss out on our great specials for February and March. We are offering a total of 15% off for midweek packages (lodging/fishing) and (lodging/fishing/meals)…these are applicable to reservations made after February 1. I have a few groups that are taking major advantage of this deal and they’re on the FISH with the WIGWAM! The Bikini Ice Fishing Team will be here on March 18, 19 & 20. If you’re looking for some great ice fishing deals, checkout the current February specials we are offering on our website http://www.wigwamresortlow.com/. We are running a February special that will give you a discount on packages purchased for February and March 2010. The specials will only last through the rest of February…you can’t beat them!

Daily Fishing Report: Today we will have plenty of sunshine, high 28F with winds light and variable. Tonight will be partly cloudy, low -1F with winds light and variable. Tomorrow we should have sunshine along with some cloudy intervals, high around 30F with winds N at 5 to 10 mph. Tomorrow night should be partly cloudy in the evening with more clouds for later at night, low 7F with winds N at 5 to 10 mph. Sunday we should have a mix of sun and clouds, highs in the low 30s and lows in the mid single digits. Monday we should have times of sun and clouds, highs in the low 30s and lows in the low teens. Tuesday we should have morning clouds followed by afternoon sun, highs in the low 30s and lows in the mid teens. Today’s fishing report will come from me and our guides. Pink and White are still the magic colors on Lake of the Woods. The pressure is back under 30.00, which should loosen the fish up a bit. Vexilars are not a must, but suggested…I won’t even fish if I don’t have a Vexilar these days. Today our houses outside of Lighthouse Gap in 22 – 24 feet of water are starting to pick up some better numbers, so keep that on your radar this weekend…you don’t have to go as far for good fishing. We are also still catching some beautiful fish (BIG WALLEYES) up on the Reefs in 24 - 32 feet. We have still been doing very well in our houses, which are only accessible by fishing with the Wigwam Resort (Trucks can’t drive to them)…they are located 2 miles off of Pine Island outside of Lighthouse Gap and up off the Reefs (21 miles north). The lures showing the best success rates are the “Gold Disco Ball aka Strobe Jig by JB’s Tackle”, “Charmer Jig (Pink) by Tom’s Tackle), the Pink or White Florescent “Stop Sign”, “Macho Minnows” and “Chubby Darter/Rapala Rattling Jig” (all can be purchased at the Log Cabin Bait store approximately ¾ of a mile before the Wigwam on 172). Use anything that glows right now, whether it is pink or white. Also give the plain gold jigs/Disco aka “Strobe” balls a try. The ice thickness out there is currently 33-36 inches. Adrian’s road is open for business…trucks are going out everyday. But again, just a little reminder, if you want to fish by the Wigwam’s houses, you have to come with us. The only types of transportation that will get you out to our houses are track vehicles and snowmobiles…no trucks. We are currently fishing the “Reefs”, but there are limited spots available each day, so book your spot today. Don’t miss out on this great fishing that we’re having on Lake of the Woods; come visit us today at the Wigwam Resort on Lake of the Woods!

My shout out today will go to Jeff, Ronnie, Ted and Rick (who was unable to be with us because of his sister’s recent passing). I admire your friendship and just wanted to remind you guys that you are not alone during this terrible time. I found that during difficult times in my life, friends and reflection on the great memories we shared with loved ones, helps the healing…it doesn’t cure it, it just helps. Our thoughts and prayers are again with Rick and his entire support group of friends and family at this time...may peace be with you all.

Happy Fishing to all, and to all a good day!

Duluth Boat and Sport Show was a Success for Duluth and the Wigwam Resort

Good morning to all!

Welcome to another edition of the Wigwam Fisherman’s Blog. Well I just got back from working 5 days of the Duluth Sport Show and what a great time we had. From talking with organizers of the event and long time vendors at the event, it sound as if the show this year was the best in years…thank you to everyone that came and participated in the event. Down at the show I ran into a few famous fishermen such as Gary Roach aka “Mr. Walleye” and Tom Neustrom, each are longtime friends of Tom Briggs (Owner of the Wigwam Resort) and longtime patrons of the Wigwam Resort. I think the best quote of the week had to come from Gary Roach when he was visiting me at the booth. Gary and I were talking a little shop (Fishing), and there were plenty of people eves dropping listening to the conversation. As one of the gentlemen moved ever closer to us with his young son, I asked the boy if he knew who I was talking to, and the shy young man answered, “No sir, I don’t”. I then asked the boy’s father if he knew who I was talking to and the gentleman stated, “Yes…it’s Mr. Walleye”. At that time there were probably 15 -16 people around and Gary looked right at them and said, I quote “if you’re looking to go to Lake of the Woods, there is only one place to go, the Wigwam Resort”. Everyone started grabbing brochure after brochure. Thank you Mr. Walleye and I look forward to wetting a line with you sometime this summer!

On a little fishing front…I have been out for the past few days but that didn’t stop our guests from catching some AWESOME fish. Last week alone we had 8 Walleyes over 28 inches caught in our houses on the Reefs and in the Flats. Along with hooking into some nice big wall mounting Walleyes, our guests have been pulling out some great numbers also on a regular basis. If you plan on fishing Lake of the Woods in the near future, give us a call and we’ll treat you like “Rock Stars”, fill you up with some great food and put you on the best freshwater fishing this green earth has to offer…what are you waiting for? See you up at the Wiggy!

After discussing the show details with Tom yesterday, he and I would like to giving away “waypoints” this summer to fisherman that haven’t fished Lake of the Woods in a while, or for that matter ever. No one does this and we want to make sure that any angler, regardless of skill level, will have the best opportunity to catch fish while fishing Lake of the Woods. We will start publicizing this information in May 2010, just in time for the opening of summer Walleye fishing season.

I would also like to start adding a “Quote of the Day” in the Blog, which I will start today. I ran across this quote the other day and it is the way I look at life and if it helps me live a very happy and fulfilling life. I thought to myself, if it works for me, why can’t it work for someone else, so here you go. Today’s “Quote of the Day” is “The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up”. This quote was given to us by one of my favorite authors, Mark Twain (1835 -1910). These are words which I live by and I hope they may help you live a happier life, on and off the lake.

Just a little FYI, if you’re looking to book a trip on the weekend with us at the Wigwam Resort, you had better call and reserve your rooms/cabins today. Mid February Fishing “Rocks” at the Wigwam Resort on Lake of the Woods

Good morning to all!

Welcome to another edition of the Wigwam Fisherman’s Blog. I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend last weekend. It was Valentines Day so hopefully it put all you fisherman/women in the mood…haha. Jody and I had the opportunity to do a little fishing, but not too much though, because we were very busy at the resort. Every time I go fishing I have a blast, but the fish had a little case of “Lock Jaw”, because of the high pressure we are currently experiencing, so we didn’t whack them like we are accustom too, but we did just fine…I love fishing!

We are one week closer to the end of ice fishing season on Lake of the Woods, and if you haven’t had the chance to experience the best freshwater ice fishing in the world, you’d better get your buns up here quickly, or you’ll have to wait all summer for the next ice fishing season. Remember that the Ice Fishing Season ends on April 14th. Let the Wigwam Resort help you with your next great fishing tale…I hope to see all your smiling faces up here very soon.

I will be absent from the blog till next Tuesday, because I will be at the Duluth Sports Show at the DECC (tomorrow) February 17th – 21st. If anyone is going to be in the area, please stop in and say hello. While your there, you can book your summer trip with us at a nicly discounted rate, but to get that rate you’re going to have to come and visit me at the show though. See you there!

High Pressure = Slow Bite…It’s Just the Facts of Fishing

Good morning to all!

Welcome to another edition of the Wigwam Fisherman’s Blog. Yesterday Tom and I made the 21 mile hike up to the Reefs to serve the “Powerhouse Group” lunch, and on the way back we managed to stop a fish a few of Tom’s secret honey holes…they didn’t disappoint. It was tough fishing, but we managed to land a few really nice fish. The reason it was tough was because of the high Barometric Pressure that we have had the past few days, but it didn’t stop us from hooking into a few nice big Walleyes though. When the pressure is up over 30.00, the bite is down, and when the pressure is under 30, the bite is great…they go hand and hand. FYI the Barometric Pressure is on the way down and the fish will be very hungry…so don’t miss out!

Some of you might be asking yourself, what is the direct correlation between the Barometric Pressure and the way the fish bite? Well the reason is simple…imagine yourself in an airplane that has not had the cabin properly pressurized…your ears want to pop and you are very uncomfortable…the same goes for the fish under high pressure. There’s a little more to it, but that is the general idea…let that be the Lake of the Woods fishing tip for the day…good luck and go get those Walleyes!

Just a little FYI, if you’re looking to book a trip on the weekend with us at the Wigwam Resort, you had better call and reserve your rooms/cabins today. There is very limited space available during the weekends till the end of March, book now or forever hold your peace. Daily Fishing Report: Today will be partly cloudy this morning, then becoming cloudy during the afternoon, high 22F with winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight on and off snow flurries are possible along with variably cloudy skies, low -2F with winds light and variable. Tomorrow we should have snow showers and flurries possible during the morning with a chance of continued flurries later, high 22F with winds light and variable…there will be a 30% chance of snow. Tomorrow night should be cloudy, low 8F with winds light and variable. Saturday we should have a few snow showers, highs in the low 20s and lows in the low single digits. Sunday should be partly cloudy and windy, highs in the low 20s and lows in the low single digits. Monday we should have times of sun and clouds, highs in the low 20s and lows in the low single digits. Today’s fishing report will come from me and our guides. Yesterday I again had the opportunity to fish up at the famed “Reefs” and things were just about the same as the past few days I was up there. Yesterday there were a total of 4 Walleyes caught and released over 28 inches…that’s a nice day’s work. Pink and White are still the magic colors up there…my Pink Charmer Lure from Tom’s Tackle was the hot ticket for me and an Orange Jigging Shad Rap from Rapala was the hot ticket for Tom. The fish weren’t just coming up and slamming it…we had to work for them again, but it as it always is, it was worth the work. We didn’t mark as many suspended fish, but you still need to be fishing with a Vexilar to even see those fish. All the action is still taking place, west of Pine Island and north of Graceton/Zipple in 32 – 36 feet of water, and up on the Reefs in 23 – 30 feet. We have still been doing very well in our houses, which are only accessible by fishing with the Wigwam Resort…they are located on west side of Pine Island straight out from Zipple and up off the Reefs (21 miles north). Our houses are currently in 32 to 36 feet of water in the flats and just off of Reefs (21 miles north) in 23 to 30 feet. The only types of transportation that will get you out to our houses are track vehicles and snowmobiles…no trucks. Fabulous Fishing for You…A Day of Remembrance for Me

Good morning to all!

Welcome to another edition of the Wigwam Fisherman’s Blog. Well today will be a tough day for me and my entire family…4 years ago today we lost my Father to lung cancer attributed to Agent Orange from Vietnam. My Father always wanted the best for me and our family, as all Fathers do. He wanted me to do whatever made me happy and never stood in the way of any of my decisions, even when it meant moving away from home to pursue my hockey career. He was always supportive, but deep down I felt as if he wanted me to come home, he thought I would always be the happiest around the environment that made me so happy while growing up in International Falls…he was right! When I decided to make the "big move" last year I didn’t know what was truly in store for me…I had left everything that I had been working on for the past 8 years to start over. I truly believe that all things happen for a reason and from my Fathers tragedy came my opportunity to make it back home, and for that I’m forever thankful and saddened all at the same time. Needless to say, I think he’s looking down from above and keeping good watch over his flock. The only catch to this one is now that I’m so happy; he’s not here to share it with me, like I know he always wanted to be, which again makes me extremely sad. So today I will remember everything that was sacrificed by my Father to get me where I am today…I am truly blessed.

I just received a phone call from my Uncle Eugene (one of my Fathers older brothers) and we shed a few tears in remembrance. As I stated earlier, this will always be a tough day for me and any of my family members…a good man was taken too soon. As my Uncle and I were talking, it reminded me of something that I have told many people, which is, no matter what I was able to accomplish during hockey and in my personal life, I will forever be known as Curtis Tessier’s son in the towns in which my Father resided throughout his life…that should say it all as to the man my Father was. Thanks for the phone call Uncle Eugene…it was greatly appreciated, please give Auntie Jo a big hug from me…I love you guys!

The lures that have still been working well are the “Gold Disco Ball Jigs”, “Stop Signs (Pink or White)”, “Macho Minnows (Pink, Green or White)” and “Chubby Darters/Rapala Rattling Jigs”. You want to be using anything that glows right now to get the best success possible…white and pink have been the best! Remember that Vexilars are not required, but they help immensely when fishing off the bottom and marking suspended fish, which has been a common occurrence these days on Lake of the Woods. So, where I’m going with this one is, get a Vexilar today…you won’t be disappointed!

Announcements…Shamrock will be the live entertainment this weekend (February 12th & 13th). If you’re looking for some great ice fishing deals, checkout the current January specials we are offering on our website http://www.wigwamresortlow.com/. We are running a January special that will give you a discount on packages purchased for January and February 2010. The specials will only last through the rest of January…you can’t beat them!

Daily Fishing Report: Today will be partly cloudy, high 16F with winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight will be partly cloudy, low -12F with winds light and variable. Tomorrow we should have partly cloudy skies, high 19F with winds light and variable. Tomorrow night we should see a few clouds, low near 0F with winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Thursday there should be times of sun and clouds, highs in the low 20s and lows in the upper single digits. Friday we should have snow showers at times, highs in the low 20s and lows in the mid single digits. Saturday it should be cloudy with flurries, highs in the low 20s and lows 1 to -3F. Today’s fishing report will come from me and our guides. Yesterday I had the opportunity to fish up at the famed “Reefs” again and things were a bit slower than my trip there on Friday, but it was still awesome. Pink and White are still the magic colors up there. The fish weren’t just coming up and slamming it…I had to work for them again, but it was worth the work. Again, I caught a majority of my fish suspended about 15 feet off the bottom, so you need to be fishing with a Vexilar to see them. The fish are out there…people are marking plenty of fish each and every day, but some days the fish are a tad bit finicky and you have to throw a few more lures at them to see if it will entice them to bite. The lures showing the best success rates are the “Gold Disco Ball”, the Pink or White Florescent “Stop Sign”, “Macho Minnows” and “Chubby Darter/Rapala Rattling Jig” (all can be purchased at the Log Cabin Bait store approximately ¾ of a mile before the Wigwam on 172). You will want to get anything that glows right now, whether it is pink or white. Also give the plain gold jigs/disco balls a try. The ice thickness out there is currently 28-32 inches. Adrian’s road is open for business…trucks are going out everyday. But again, just a little reminder, if you want to fish by the Wigwam’s houses, you have to come with us. The only types of transportation that will get you out to our houses are track vehicles and snowmobiles…no trucks. We are currently fishing the “Reefs”, but only 40 can fish a day…book your spot today. Don’t miss out on this great fishing that we’re having on Lake of the Woods, come visit us today at the Wigwam Resort on Lake of the Woods!

My shout out today will go to my Mother (Linda), Brother (Ryan) and Sister (Janelle)...I know that we are not able to be together today, but my thoughts are with you all. Stay strong and remember all the fun we used to have on the camping trips and road trips, which we were so lucky to take every summer as a family...I miss you and love you all with all my heart!

Happy Fishing to all, and to all a good day!

Lake of the Woods Reef Fishing "Is All That" and More!

Good morning to all!

Welcome to another edition of the Wigwam Fisherman’s Blog. I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far…mine has been spectacular. Yesterday I had the opportunity to do a little exploratory fishing out from the Reefs where we have 10 of our houses currently staged. I got out there about 9 am and fishing was very slow till about 11 am, then it was if the light switch was turned on. I had to thrown everything but the kitchen sink at them for about 2 hours till I found the “Secret Weapon”, which was a pink glow jig with a treble hook and a full fat head minnow as bait. Within the next few hours I was able to land 4 slot Walleyes (25”, 24”, 21” & 20”) along with a number of other nice fish (Walleye & Sauger)…it’s “Reef Fishing” at its best.

Well as many of you know, February is the start of “Reef” fishing on Lake of the Woods. The Wigwam Resort is only one off a handful of Full Service Fishing Resorts on Lake of the Woods that makes the 20 mile jaunt across the lake to the renowned “Reefs”. People come from thousands of miles around this time of year to get there chance at some of the best Walleye fishing in the world…don’t forget Baudette, MN (Lake of the Woods/Rainy River) is known and even named the “Walleye Capitol of the World”. Just by that phrase alone, you should know that it doesn’t get any better than Lake of the Woods, and the “Reefs” are the “Cherry” on top of the “Biggest and Best Ice Cream Sunday” I’ve ever eaten. It costs a few bucks more to get up there, but when the fish are on, there is nothing better. There are limited openings per day for “Reef” fishing, so don’t wait till it’s to late, book your trip today.

Just a little FYI, if you’re looking to book a trip on the weekend with us at the Wigwam Resort, you had better call and reserve your rooms/cabins today. February Kicks Off Reef Fishing at the Wigwam Resort on Lake of the Woods

Good morning to all!

Welcome to another edition of the Wigwam Fisherman’s Blog. Well I can’t believe that February is upon us and the Ice Fishing season is about half over…I guess time flies when you’re having fun! Yesterday I had the opportunity to go snowmobiling on some freshly groomed northern Minnesota trails, and also, wet a line for the first time in 5 days and it was so enjoyable and relaxing. Jody (my girlfriend) and I went out with Tom and Nina (Owners of the Wigwam), and Al and Michel (Owners of Morris Point) on our little “field trip” and it was such a beautiful day. I hope that everyone had the opportunity to enjoy their Sunday as much as I did.

I’m sure that some may be asking themselves, why would owners of competing resorts be hanging out together? The answer is simple up here; there is such a high percentage of great people up here that have the same goals and aspirations, which is, to make people happy and show them the beautiful backyard we are all blessed to share. At the same time, it seems as if we all love to do the same things, which brings people closer together. When I was playing hockey, I found myself hanging out with all hockey players and people associated with the sport. Now that I have been blessed to end up in “God’s Country”, the same follows suit. If no one would bring up hockey, I know that I could talk fishing all day and all night. I know that I say that I’m lucky a ton, but it’s only because I truly believe it to be so. I have been able to meet so many great people whom share my common interests…I feel truly blessed to be surrounded by so many awesome people. The best part of it is, we are all working together (as a community) to have as many people enjoy what we get to enjoy every single day…“Lake of the Woods”.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to share my “story” with one of our guests and through that conversation I learned that he was going to be inducted into the North Dakota State University Bison Hall of Fame. This gentleman has been a longtime patron of the Wigwam Resort and his name is Mr. George Gilmore. George was visiting us with his nephew this past week when he shared this great news. I just wanted to congratulate George on the induction, what an honor. George, I hope that day is a great day for you, your family and your teammates. Again, it’s an awesome honor and I hope you cherish it…Congratulation Again!

We currently have a special running for Super Bowl weekend, which gives you a 10% discount off all packages (only). We have only 2 lodge rooms and 2 cabins left for this weekend, which are Cabin 4 (9 person) & 5 (8 person), once they are filled, we will be sold out. Also, for all of you that have the ability to come midweek don’t miss out on our great specials for February and March. Daily Fishing Report: Today we will see snow showers early becoming more scattered later, high 17F with winds light and variable…there will be a 40% chance of snow. Tonight we should have scattered snow showers during the evening…then partly to mostly cloudy overnight, low 2F with winds light and variable…there will be a 30 % chance of snow. Wednesday should be mostly cloudy, highs in the upper teens and lows in the mid single digits. Thursday again should be mostly cloudy, highs in the mid 20s and lows in the mid teens. Friday there should be a chance of a few snow showers, highs in the mid 20s and lows in the upper teens. Today’s fishing report will come from me and our guides. The fishing over the weekend has picked up from last weeks “slow bite”. Yesterday I had the opportunity to wet the old fishing line for the first time in a few days…it was pleasantly refreshing. One of the people Jody and I were fishing with (Kristin B.) caught a number of nice slot Walleyes, one right after the other…it was great to see. We were fishing over on the U.S./Canadian line in 24 feet of water. The fish are out there…people are marking plenty of fish each and every day, but some days the fish are a tad bit finicky and you have to throw a few more lures at them to see if it will entice them to bite. All the action is still taking place, west of Pine Island and north of Graceton/Zipple in 32 – 36 feet of water. We have still been doing very well in our houses, which are only accessible by fishing with the Wigwam Resort…they are located on west side of Pine Island straight out from Zipple. Our houses are currently in 32 to 36 feet of water, and as of this morning 32 to 34 feet has been the magic depth again…the fish are deep. My shout out today will have to go to all of our guests that stayed with us this past week and weekend (which was a great number of people). I know that I try to thank all of you during your stay, but some times I don’t get as much time as I’d like to spend on that, so this blog gives me the perfect opportunity to do that publicly. Thanks for being such great guest…the staff complements on the behavior and genuinely happy nature of our guests these days. This helps them give the happy nature right back to you (northern Minnesota hospitality), which makes my life very enjoyable. So once again, thank you to all that have stayed, eaten, enjoyed a beverage or two, or three…you make it all possible…thanks again.

Happy Fishing to all, and to all a good day!
